Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your life and naturally, of course, you want to look and feel your absolute best.

All of my beautiful brides-to-be want that naturally glowing and flawless skin. It’s the perfect canvas for your wedding makeup, allowing your beauty to shine through effortlessly. As a bridal hair and makeup artist based near Bath, Somerset, I understand how important it is to achieve that radiant bridal glow.

Join me as I share my top tips on how to prepare your skin for your special day, so you can walk down the aisle with confidence.

Start Early with a Skincare Routine

Achieving beautiful skin doesn’t happen overnight. Ideally, you should start focusing on your
skincare routine at least 6-12 months before your wedding day. This gives your skin plenty of time to
adjust to new products and treatments without the risk of a last-minute breakout. Your skincare
routine should include as a bare minimum cleansing, exfoliation and moisturising. Be sure to read
through to the end of this post, where I’ll share my top three must-have skincare products that I
recommend to nearly all my brides.

Professional Skin Treatments

As your bridal makeup artist, I can enhance and highlight your natural beauty, but the quality of your
skin is the foundation we work with. To ensure your skin is at its best, consider scheduling a
consultation with a dermatologist if you have any specific concerns such as acne or sensitivity. Some
professional treatments such as chemical peels and facials can make a huge difference, but they
should be planned well in advance of your wedding day.

Hydrate

Great hair and skin starts from within. Staying hydrated is crucial, so make sure you’re drinking
plenty of water throughout the day. Incorporating hydrating foods, such as cucumbers, watermelon,
and leafy greens, into your diet can also make a big difference.

Get Plenty of Beauty Sleep

Beauty sleep is not just a myth! During sleep, your skin goes into repair mode, regenerating cells and
recovering from the day’s stress. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to ensure your skin is
well-rested and ready to glow on your big day.
If you’re having trouble sleeping due to pre-wedding jitters, try creating a relaxing night-time
routine. This might include a warm bath, calming herbal teas, or a few minutes of meditation to help
you unwind before bed.

Bridal Makeup Trial

Your wedding makeup should enhance your natural beauty. To ensure your bridal makeup looks
perfect on the day, we will schedule your bridal trial approximately 4-6 months ahead of your
wedding day. During the trial, we can discuss your skin type, any concerns you have, and the overall
bridal look you want to achieve.

During your bridal trial, we’ll work together to create a look that beautifully complements your
current skin condition and overall vision. I’ll carefully assess your skin’s needs, and if any areas could
benefit from additional care, I’ll recommend the best products to add to your current skincare
routine. This personalised approach ensures that your bridal makeup not only enhances your natural
beauty but also lasts throughout your big day, giving you one less thing to worry about.

Avoid New Products

As tempting as it may be to try new skincare products or treatments in the weeks leading up to your
wedding, it’s best to avoid anything unfamiliar. Introducing new products too close to the big day
can lead to unexpected reactions, such as breakouts and irritation. Stick to the tried-and-true
products you know your skin loves, and save any experimentation for after your honeymoon.

Consider Pre-Wedding Facials

Regular facials can help keep your skin in top condition leading up to your wedding day. Opt for
facials that are tailored to your skin type and concerns. Hydrating facials are great for dry skin while
brightening facials can enhance your natural glow. But, don’t have a facial the week of your
wedding!

Finally, please breathe, enjoy your special day and trust your bridal makeup artist to bring your
vision to life. With over 10 years working in the luxury bridal industry, I know how to create a
